JUST ANOTHER MOODIE MONDAY – A LITTLE MORE LOVE BY OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN

Posted by | Blog | No Comments

maxresdefault

LET’S GET A LIITLE SEXY THIS MONDAY MORNING WITH A TRACK I REMEMBER HEARING FOR THE FIRST TIME BACK IN 1979 ON ITS RELEASE.

IT’S BY THE AUSTRALIAN SENSATION OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN, CO STAR OF GREASE WITH JOHN  TRAVOLTA.

“A Little More Love” is taken from Olivia’s 1978 album “Totally Hot”. The song was a world-wide hit that peaked at No4 in UK and No3 in US, during the winter of 1979. Billboard magazine ranked it as the 17th most popular song of 1979. It was the first single Olivia released solo following the huge chart-topping hit “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from the film Grease with John Travolta.

So have a sexy dance and sing around your bedroom this morning with this little ditty……… Go Olivia!!!!!!

I’ve attached the lyrics too……..

“A Little More Love” – Music and Lyrics – John Farrar
Night is draggin’ her feet
I wait alone in the heat
I know, know that you’ll have your way
Till you have to go home
No’s a word I can’t say

Cause it gets me nowhere to tell you no
And it gets me nowhere to make you go
Will a little more love make you start depending
Will a little more love bring a happy ending
Will a little more love make it right?
Will a little more love make it right?

Where, where did my innocence go?
How, how was a young girl to know?
I’m trapped, trapped in the spell of your eyes
In the warmth of your arms
In the web of your lies

But it gets me nowhere to tell you no
And it gets me nowhere to make you go
Will a little more love make you start depending
Will a little more love bring a happy ending
Will a little more love make it right?
Will a little more love make it right?

ALISON MOYET – RE-ISSUED AND RE-MASTERD SONY ALBUMS

alf-480x480

Alison’s first Solo Album “Alf” Released 1984

ANYBODY THAT KNOWS ME SHOULD KNOW THAT I’M A HUGE ALISON MOYET/YAZOO FAN.

Geneviève Alison Jane Moyet ( 18 June 1961) is an English singer, songwriter and performer noted for her bluesy contralto voice who came to prominence as one half of the duo Yazoo in the early 80’s but has since mainly worked as a solo artist.

Alison Moyet’s UK album sales alone have reached a certified 23 million, with over a million singles sold. All seven of her studio albums and three compilation albums have charted in the Top 30 UK Album Charts,  with two of the albums reaching number one. She has had nine Top 30 singles and five Top 10 hits in the UK singles charts.  Her most recent album The Minutes was released in the UK on 6 May 2013 with many claiming it as her best solo album to date, as she returned to her electronica roots for the first time since Yazoo days. The album reached No 5 in the UK charts, making it her highest charting album since Raindancing in 1987.

Alison is a 3 times Brit Award winner, Mercury Music Award nominee and Grammy nominee plus she was presented with the Investec Icon Award at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef awards ceremony in 2013 and with the Gold Badge Award by BASCA in 2014. BASCA,  the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, is one of the largest professional associations for music writers and exists to support, protect and campaign for the interests of British songwriters, lyricists and composers in the United Kingdom, as well as the EU, and The Gold Badge award is given to recognise exceptional people from right across the music industry who have worked in support of British songwriters and composers.  They are an opportunity for BASCA and its members to thank an outstanding group of men and women each year who have made a unique contribution to British music.

In 2001 Moyet made her stage debut in the London West End production of the musical Chicago playing Mama Morton to huge acclaim and what was meant to be a short run ended up being a 6 month stint following her popularity.

On 10 November 2014, she released a live album, Minutes and Seconds-Live taken from The Minutes Tour.

On 30 July 2015, it was announced that Alison would be releasing deluxe editions of her albums Hometime ( 2002)Voice (2004) , and The Turn (2007) . According to her official web site: “Each album will feature plenty of bonus material – including some rare and previously unreleased material.”

On 21 September 2015, Moyet she then performed at the Burberry Prorsum Fashion Show during London Fashion Week.  Her set was released as an digital EP, Live for Burberryon 23 September.

On 27 September 2016, it was announced that Alison’s first four studio albums AlfRaindancingHoodooo and Essex would be reissued as Deluxe editions after having been remastered by BMG ( part of Sony Music) on 25 November 2016. Each double-disc set comes in a casebound book with the original album remastered from the original tapes along with 12-inch remixes, b-sides and previously unreleased songs, and today I finally received my copies through the post.

Listening to these classic albums brings bet many memories and I want to tell you about them because these albums not only define Alison’s earlier career but a whole era too.

Beg, steal or preferable buy copies for a fantastic trip down 80’s and 90’s memory lane with one of Britain’s most celebrated and talented singers.  I’m dancing and singing as i type!!!!

See all 4 albums track listing below plus a link to Alison’s first solo video outing ever for one of my favourite tracks – Love Resurrection.

MOODS COMEDY MONDAY – GIMME GIMME GIMME – KATHY BURKE

Posted by | Blog | No Comments

tumblr_m7r6cyuydy1qhh6xjo4_250

TODAY’S MOODS COMEDY MONDAY IS A SCENE FROM AWARD WINNING COMEDY GIMME GIMME GIMME, STARRING KATHY BURKE & JAMES DREYFUS….

Gimme Gimme Gimme centres around loudmouthed Londoner Linda La Hughes, (played by comedian and director Kathy Burke ) and her gay flatmate, actor Tom Farrell (played by James Dreyfus). A modern twist on the traditional “odd couple” format, much of Gimme Gimme Gimme’s humour springs from its innuendo subplot, which comes from the mouths of both Tom and Linda.

Gimme Gimme Gimme has broadcast three series and 19 episodes in total. The first series premiered on BBC Two on 8 January 1999 and lasted for six episodes. Following this, a Millennium special was screened at the end of the year on 29 December 1999. A second series commenced on 14 January 2000, again including six episodes. A short sketch included as part of Comic Relief was broadcast on 16 March 2001. Due to the high viewing figures and success the show received, it was moved to BBC One for a six-episode third series which was the last. The 3rd series finally won awards for best comedy at the comedy awards at which in Kathy Burkes acceptance speech she candidly said ” about fuckin’ time”

This hilarious sketch from the series is when Tom walks in on Linda entertaining herself and they decide to play charades.

COMEBACK MODEL OF THE YEAR, ROSIE TAPNER – NEW Q&A

MEET THE LOVELY ROSIE TAPNER EVERYBODY ( AGAIN)

Rosie Tapner was discovered by Storm Model Management in 2011 at the Birmingham Clothes Show Live and at the age of 15, became the face of Balenciaga’s 2012 Campaign. Since then Rosie has appeared in campaigns for TopShop, Selfridges, Chloe, Burberry, and in editorials for British Vogue, LOVE, W Magazine and Numero, also being shot by the god of fashion photography himself, Steven Meisel.

In February 2014, the Daily Mail newspaper stated that she was “tipped to be the next Cara Delevingne”

ROSIE IN BRITISH VOGUE BY BEN TOMS MAY 2013

Right at that point of breaking big, Rosie became very disillusioned with the fashion industry after feeling quite burnt out following her hectic, heady start, and with much disappointment to the industry, she completely turned her back on the whole thing, even leaving her agency,  and signed up to go to university. Retreating back to ‘normal life’ Rosie left London and went back home to Hertfordshire where she began to live like a ‘regular’ teenager again.

ROSIE IN THE BURBERRY SHOW 2013 AND ON THE COVER OF BRITISH VOGUE SUPPLEMENT MAY 2013 BY BEN TOMS.

Cut to March 2016 when I received an email from one of Rosie’s old agents Jamie, who had help to set up a new kind of model agency called The Squad Management.

Jamie informed me that Rosie had decided that at the ripe age of 20 she was now ready to return to modelling with a different head on her shoulders, and he was going to represent her,  but with that return a new look was needed. So Jamie, Rosie and I met up to devise the plan of giving Rosie a whole new image for her re-launch. First,  I cut her hair into a razored, choppy longer bob and also gave her a long choppy fringe for the first time. Next it was off to the Windle and Moodie salon in Covent Garden to pay a visit to one of the amazing  colourists, Jesus. Initially we discussed with Jesus about Rosie having black hair, but that eventually changed to her going blonde as it seemed to be more conducive with her new haircut. With early Debbie Harry from Blondie and a young Kim Wilde as references Jesus set about creating Rosie’s new platinum blonde look.

And so here we are, mid November and Rosie’s career is well and truly back on track. Within a week of being officially announced as “Back”,  Rosie was booked on an 80 page editorial and cover shoot for French Grazia’s Fashion Issue.

I’m also pleased to announce that Rosie became the Windle and Moodie AW16 Campaign star shot by Jem Mitchell,  styled by the uber talented Tara St Hill with Hair by me of course ( see the pictures below).

Whilst all this was going on I asked Rosie if she would do a Q&A for me telling us all about herself, her time away and her comeback, and today I’m revealing that Q&A to you all.

So without further ado I give you British Comeback Model Of The Year, the wonderful, delightful and beautiful both inside and out………….

ROSIE IN THE WINDLE AND MOODIE AW16 CAMPAIGN – “FREE SPIRIT”

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE GROWING UP?

I wanted to be the female version on David Attenborough (Still do)! Any job that involves animals and travel!

HOW DID YOU END UP DOING WHAT YOU’RE DOING NOW?

I was scouted at the clothes show, my school took us there every year, it was huge fun but also very scary being approached by someone, I never thought I could model.

IS THERE ANYBODY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE IF YOU WEREN’T YOU?

David Attenborough

 WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

I live in Hertfordshire, in a little village called Chipperfield.

me-and-rosie2

ROSIE AND I, BTS ON THE SELFRIDGES SHOOT IN 2013.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING IN YOUR CITY WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I’d put way more restaurants in it!

YOU’VE JUST TAKEN APPROX 2 YEARS OFF FROM MODELLING,  WHAT MADE YOU DO THAT AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING IN THOSE 2 YEARS?

I think honestly I just needed a break from the pressure, stop worrying what I looked like and what I was eating day to day and just go travelling and be slightly more normal. I started when I was 15 and was incredibly lucky to land a Balenciaga World Exclusive in my first week signed to my agency, things just took off without me really seeing it happen and I was whisked away to so many places and jobs everyday while I was at school…it was all completely incredible and I never regret doing any of it, but when I left school I didn’t have that security of a routine to come back to after a days work and suddenly that threw me out of control a little and I became very anxious and slightly saw my life just being work and not enough of teenage fun. So I decided that I needed to have my own fun and not miss out on a gap year and travelling and having some time to myself. I went travelling around New Zealand for a month with my boyfriend, jumping out of planes and off bridges and doing all sorts of other incredible activities…I also decided to go to university so that a normal routine would be put in place for me, I really like balancing work and study so I decided it was a good idea! I have just finished my first year there, and I didn’t want to work through my first year as I wanted to get to grips with my course and have everyone know me as me, rather than ‘That model’. But now I really can’t wait to juggle the both again!

ROSIE IN THE BALENCIAGA CAMPAIGN BY STEVEN MEISEL.

YOU STARTED MODELING AT A VERY EARLY AGE, HAVING TAKEN THE TIME OUT, WHAT WAS YOUR PERCEPTION OF IT WHEN YOU WEREN’T IN THE THICK OF IT?

What’s really funny about this question is I thought taking time out would make me never want to do it again, and there were times when I was ready just to pack the whole thing in. But one day a very good friend of mine sent me a behind the scenes video for a campaign I did with a comment saying “Look how much fun you have when you work”. I watched the video and suddenly really missed being apart of it all and knew I couldn’t stop. It is the most insane world ever, completely mad in fact, and being a model comes with an enormous amount of pressure, jet lag and patience (on some jobs). But I much prefer being in it than away from it!

ROSIE FOR BRITISH VOGUE JAN 2014 BY BOO GEORGE, STYLING:BAY GARNETT, HAIR BY ME MAKE UP BY LOTTEN HOLMQUIST

WHILST YOU WERE AT UNI, DID PEOPLE RECOGNISE YOU  FROM YOUR PICTURES, AND AND HOW DID THEY TREAT YOU?

Luckily only a very small amount of people recognised me…as my housemates would tell you, they’ve never seen me out of gym clothes or trackies, so I don’t exactly make myself look like a model for people to recognise me! However on my first night at freshers week I was recognised and I have been a few times at my boyfriends uni too…it’s very strange and people do treat me differently if they know what I do, they instantly want to be my best friend…but I know who my real friends are!

YOU’RE HAVING A COMEBACK WITH A NEW AGENT AND A WHOLE NEW LOOK TOO, WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO RETURN TO MODELLING AND DO IT AGAIN?

It’s the only thing I’m half decent at doing haha! I just really really missed it! I missed the buzz of being in front of a camera and knowing how campaigns and editorials are made. I missed being part of a team everyday and travelling and meeting new, weird and wonderful people! I’m also the biggest chatterbox, so getting to meet new people everyday is pretty perfect!

My new agency is incredible and so much fun to work with, the people in there are all so lovely and my relationship with them all is very strong…Its the best move and decision I’ve ever made! We decided that we wanted to come back completely different and exciting, and so thanks to the incredible team at Windle and Moodie (especially to Neil and Jesus) I have

I’m suddenly (and rather unlikely) into yoga at the moment, particularly hot yoga! I never thought I’d enjoy it and always thought it looked easy…I was 100% wrong.

Ah music is such a hard one for me, I really just listen to anything thats on the radio, but I do seem to remember ABBA was a massive one for me!

IF YOU WERE PUT ON A DESERT ISLAND AND COULD CHOOSE 10 SONGS TO HAVE ON AN IPOD WHAT WOULD THEY BE?(AND EXPLAIN – IF YOU WANT TO- WHY YOU CHOSE THEM )

“7 Years” by Lukas Graham – Just love this song, and despite listening to it a million times Im not bored of it yet!

“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen – Such a good one to sing to haha

“American Pie” by Don McLean – Its like 10minutes long so would keep me occupied!

I can’t actually think of 5 more specific as there are too many, but anything upbeat and happy!

IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE BESIDES WHERE YOU ARE, WHERE WOULD IT BE.?

100% New Zealand, I went travelling there last year and almost didn’t come back! It’s the most beautiful, quiet place with some amazing activities too!

WHO OR WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH?

My friends, my boyfriend and of course all the Ab Fab episodes and film!

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNERS THAT YOU WOULD WEAR?

I’m much more of a casual dresser, having grown up in the country and wearing my riding stuff all day everyday I very rarely wear designer clothing. I love wearing all designers on shoots and wish I could wear them everyday, especially: Chloe, Balenciaga, Yves St Laurent and Marc Jacobs!

Kym Sims (born 23 August 1966) is an American Singer,  whose biggest success came outside her home market. She began her career as an advertising jingle singer before breaking through into the dance music scene with this hit produced by Grammy award winner Steve “Silk” Hurley.

Too blind spent 12 weeks on the UK Single charts during the Christmas period of 1991/1992. She went on to release more singles,  “Take My Advice” which reached number 13 in the UK,  which also became a club hit.  She released an album titled Too Blind to See It which peaked at number 39 in the UK Album charts. It  was produced by Steve Hurley, with co-production credits shared with E-Smoove and another multiple Grammy Award winner Maurice Joshua.

In 1995 she released “I Must Be Free” and in 1996 released another single “We Gotta Love”, which was the last single of hers to be released physically on CD or Vinyl.  In 1998 Kym provided the lead vocals for “Keep On Groovin'” by One Vision under the alias Shimma. In 2000 she released another single through MP3.com called “Just Can’t Get Enough”.

Now in 2016, Kym is set to release the highly anticipated single, Frankstar VS Tom-E TuTone featuring ‘Deep In The City’. Which is a tribute to Chicago, House Music and the ‘legends’ that paved the way for that genre.

Anyway, sit back and relax or moreover, get up and dance your arse off to this little club number that I’ve danced my arse off too on too many occasions to mention, and still do when I hear this tune.

Take it away Ms Sims:

TODAY FROM MY ADVERTISING ARCHIVE I’M RE-VISITING THE JIGSAW CAMPAIGN FROM

SPRING/ SUMMER 1996

SHOT BY THE MARVELLOUS JUERGEN TELLER AND STARRING AUDREY ANDERSON AND JOHNNY ZANDER.

Following the success of the previous campaign we all worked on for AW95 with the gorgeous Lonneke Engel, Jigsaw invited us all back to shoot again. The last campaign was shot in the urban, industrial, cold looking Berlin, but for this shoot we travelled to sunny Southern Italy.

Audrey was the new model of the moment, hailing from Texas with Swedish descent. Audrey had a cute little mullet haircut which inspired a lot of people to copy her when her modelling career took off. Her co partner in this shoot is Johnny Zander. Another American model who was in the middle of his high profile modelling career when we shot this, already having been in Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana, and Hugo Boss campaigns to name a few.

Both Audrey and Johnny have gone on to be actors with Audrey playing the role of Kim Brown in the CBS action-drama series The Unit  (2006–2009) and her recurring roles as Lyla Michaels in Arrow  (2013-present) and Lilly in The Walking Dead (2014).  Johnny has appeared in a few films including Coyote Ugly ( 2000) and Mexico City ( 2000) but he now runs his own bar in Los Angeles called Grandpa Johnson’s, an art deco homage to his grandfather. Johnny whose name, along with fellow model Mark Vanderloo’s, inspired Ben Stiller to create his Derek Zoolander character ( see the video below also, with an interview of Johnny talking about how he inspired Zoolander)

Hope you enjoy these great, uplifting images and  also the funny video of Johnny explain the Zoolander inspiration.

MOODS COMEDY MONDAY

JULIE WALTERS GENIUSLY PLAYS THE PRODUCER/ORGANISER OF WHAT QUITE POSSIBLY COULD BE AN ‘AMATEUR’ PRODUCTION OF HAMLET. THIS IS ON OF THOSE FANTASTIC COMEDY MOMENTS WHERE A COMEDIAN DELIVERS A SKETCH ON THEIR OWN.

This sketch was written by the late Victoria Wood for her TV show Victoria Wood As seen On TV.
