At the age of 15, Yumi Lambert visited Dominique Models in Brussels, Belgium and was signed straight away.

Since that happened 6 years ago Yumi,  whose grandmother is Japanese, has risen through the model ranks to become one of the new model stars of our time.

I’ve worked with Yumi a couple of times and her beauty is very unique. There’s a softness to her face with a slight hint of Japanese that you can see in her eye shape, which gives her her feline features.

This shoot I recently worked on with my mate Jem Mitchell on photography and one of my close friends Wendy Rowe on make-up.  The stylist Patrick Mackie is a regular contributor to W magazine in New York and flew over for the shoot. As you can see, the theme is glitter glamour……….

I hope you love the pictures as much as we all do who worked on it.

ICONIC FILM STARS: KATHARINE HEPBURN – 109 YEARS OLD TODAY

Posted by | Blog | No Comments

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 11.01.18

THE FILM ( MOVIE) INDUSTRY HAS PRODUCED SOME OF THE MOST PROLIFIC AND ICONIC PEOPLE OF OUR TIMES…..

Creating waves not only in their films as actors and actresses but also in fashion and style.

I decided to start this post to bring you more info about these iconic peoples hair and fashion. Partly for my own log bank too as we’ve had to research theses images.

Anyhow, what better way to start this post off than with an actress who, had she been alive would be 109 years old today.

KATHARINE HEPBURN.

May 12, 1907 – June 29, 2003

Katharine died June 23rd 2003 at the ripe old age of 96.

Apparently she was tomboyish, independent, and very vivacious, often called difficult in Hollywood, where she was known as being very feisty and would talk back to people. They didn’t find her appealing, sexy or beautiful but somehow this outspoken woman from New England who would often go swimming in the cold Atlantic Ocean as a child as well as partake in numerous other sports.

For all her traits ( Or faults as they were often seen), she still managed to forge a huge career in Hollywood, making over 50 films ( 44 feature films and 8 Television Films), getting nominated for 12 Oscars and winning 4 of them. Thats some feat for a woman who would not give interviews, not talk to fans for most of her career and distanced herself from the Hollywood lifestyle, uninterested in any kind of celebrity scene she saw as tedious and superficial. She wasn’t particularly liked in Hollywood by all accounts but had a relentless energy and enthusiasm for life of which a headstrong independence became key to her celebrity status. This self-assuredness meant she could be controlling and difficult; Her friend Garson Kanin likened her self assuredness and ability to blunt and outspoken as School mistress like. Her niece commented that her aunt could be “maddeningly self-righteous and bossy”, and Katharine admitted in later life to being “a me me me person” when she was younger.  She was quoted as saying  “I like life and I’ve been so lucky, why shouldn’t I be happy?”

Below is her 12 Oscar Nominations ( Taken from Wikipedia)

  • 6th Academy Awards(1934): Best Actress, win, for Morning Glory
  • 8th Academy Awards (1936): Best Actress, nomination, for Alice Adams
  • 13th Academy Awards (1941): Best Actress, nomination, for The Philadelphia Story
  • 15th Academy Awards (1943): Best Actress, nomination, for Woman Of The Year
  • 24th Academy Awards(1952): Best Actress, nomination, for The African Queen
  • 28th Academy Awards (1956): Best Actress, nomination, for Summertime
  • 29th Academy Awards (1957): Best Actress, nomination, for The rainmaker
  • 32nd Academy Awards (1960): Best Actress, nomination, for Suddenly, Last Summer
  • 35th Academy Awards (1963): Best Actress, nomination, for Long Day’s Journey Into Night
  • 40th Academy Awards (1968): Best Actress, win, for Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner
  • 41st Academy Awards(1969): Best Actress, win, for The Lion In Winter (shared with Barbra Streisand for Funny Girl)
  • 54th Academy Awards (1982): Best Actress, win, for On Golden Pond

So lets celebrate this amazing woman in picture form: I give you Katherine Hepburn…….

RIP- MATT IRWIN, PHOTOGRAPHER.

SADLY TODAY I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THE DEATH OF THE LOVELY MATT IRIWN, A PHOTOGRAPHER I WORK WITH.

Matt passed away yesterday only aged 36. He began taking pictures when he was just 15 after being given a camera by a friend to try out. Apparently he still used this camera until his death.

Matt was also very prolific on Instagram with funny selfies, pictures of people he was shooting and working with, and of places he visited.

I first met Matt in early 2008 when i was booked to work with him on a shoot for Russian Vogue, with then Fashion Director, Simon Robbins and supermodel Natalia Vodianova.

I remember thinking he was funny and quirky and I continued to work with him on and off for the next 8 years. He was always witty and made me laugh. He made every day at work a joy…….

I will miss working with Matt, who was such a talent and had great eye for imagery. He always made it seem so effortless.  Many will know Matt from him shooting the boy band One Direction, who he became friends with and photographed a lot, but I know Matt more from the fashion world. He made it seem so easy to switch from shooting bands and celebrities to shooting models, and his lovely persona is what I think also helped him be so loved.

Matt you will be missed……… I hope you are at peace wherever you are!!

Below are some of the images from my first ever shoot with Matt from the Russian Vogue shoot in 2008.

SUPERMODEL 31 PART 8

Todays featured Supermodel 31 is none other than Cindy Crawford. She  has gained her position in the elite group of 31 Supermodels who have appeared on all 4 of the major Vogues within their career. Going in alphabetical order, Cindy is No 8. I’ve already featured Amber Valletta, Angela Lindvall, Arizona Muse, Bridget Hall,  Carmen Kass and Carolyn Murphy and Christy Turlington.

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 19.38.33

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Crawford was born February 20, 1966 and Cindy is one of the original five supermodels named in the late 80’s early 90’s.

Born in the USA her background is German, English, and French, she was discovered working on a nearby farm detasseling corn when a photographer took her picture for a local magazine. She later signed to Elite Model Management’s Chicago division and was hailed for her likeness to late 70s/early 80s model Gia Carangi.  Cindy’s trademark was her beauty mark ( mole) above her top lip.  During the 80s and 90s, Cindy was one of the most popular supermodels, appearing on magazine covers including Vogue, W, Harpers Bazaar, Elle and Allure.

She’s appeared on many catwalks  for Calvin Klein,  Chanel, Christian Dior, DKNY,  Dolce and Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Valentino and Versace. She’s also starred in many fashion campaigns during her career, including Anne Klein, Balmain, Blumarine, Gap, Guess,  Halston, Hermes  Isaac Mizrahi, Revlon and Versace

33 years after being discovered Cindy has announced her retirement from the modelling industry. In a recent interview for United Airlines Rhapsody Magazine,  Cindy, who turns 50 later this month, says,

“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that’s OK. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”

Designer Michael Kors said of Ms Crawford,

” Cindy changed the perception of the “sexy American girl” from classic blue eyed blonde to a more sultry brunette with brains, charm, and professionalism to spare.

So lets go and see some of the most fabulous pics of this all American beauty, including one of her last shoots before retiring, a cover of herself and her daughter Kaia for the April 2016 issue of Vogue Paris.
