WE’LL BE BACK JANUARY 4TH 2016 WITH MORE FUN AND FROLICS.
Todays #TBT is from a shoot I worked on for British Vogue with photographer Corinne Day and one of her favourite models Georgina Cooper. We’re struggling here at Moodie HQ to find the actual date/issue of this shoot but we know it’s early 2000’s. ( If anybody knows, please let us know)
This was actually a jewellery (jewellery if you’re American) shoot based on diamonds and how to wear them in a different way…… We had a great team to work with as usual, but on this occasion we also had the jewellery editor from Vogue, Carol Woolton, who in October of this year helped launch a book with Conde Nast publishing called ( surprisingly haha)
“Vogue, The Jewellery Book” Available to buy from Amazon, WH Smith and other leading book stores for £48.75
The new book celebrates jewellery in the Vogue over the past century. It catalogues the magazine’s relationship with precious stones and other adornments – as photographed by such luminaries as David Bailey, Cecil Beaton, Corinne Day, Norman Parkinson, Irving Penn, Mario Testino and Bruce Weber.

It’s getting close to Christmas and we just had to start with some Christmas Comedy Mondays to get you in the Christmas Cheer.
I’m starting the Christmas posts with one of my favourite comedy’s The Royle Family
This sketch is from the Royle Family Christmas Special “The New Sofa” made in 2008. The sketch stars the usual characters all sat in their living room and they get an unexpected visit from an old friend who’s been in prison.
This is Christmas Comedy Genius.
Carolyn starring on all 4 Major Vogue Covers.
Carolyn Murphy was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. United States. Discovered in New York at the age of 15 by a scout at Women Model Management, she went on to appear on her first Vogue cover ( French Vogue shot by Raymond Meier) in 1996, and on the cover of W, Italian Vogue ( by the legendary Steven Meisel) and her 2nd French Vogue cover in the same year. Back then Carolyn had super short hair and that was the look that launched her career. She starred in the Prada campaign and opened and closed the Prada show the same season.
Carolyn starring in 90’s Prada Campaigns and shows.
The following year Carolyn became the Face of Gucci and in 1998 was signed to Calvin Klein alongside Kate Moss and Maggie Rizer.
From then on her career became stratospheric and she has not stopped since, ( although I think she does work a little less these days by choice). She went on to become the face of Versace, Max Mara, CK, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford, Roberta Cavalli and many more.
She has gained her position in this elite group of 31 Supermodels who have appeared on all 4 of the major Vogues within their career. Going in alphabetical order, Carolyn is No 5 after Amber Valletta, Angela Lindvall, Arizona Muse, Bridget Hall and Carmen Kass, who I’ve featured already.
More of Carolyn’s Vogue covers
Carolyn has also acted and hosted the TV show Project Runway, taking over from Angela Lindvall who also appeared in an earlier Supermodel 31.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Carolyn on a few occasions and she is one of the nicest, funniest models I know. I’ve not seen her for a while but I have some fond memories, especially a trip we took to Mexico to shoot a story for iD magazine with Carter Smith back in 1997. We were there for 5 days in Tulum and had the best time. One lunch time we got unexpectedly drunk on strawberry marguerites and then attempted to take some pictures later on. All I remember is trying to get in the sea with the dress on that Carolyn was wearing earlier and attempting replicate the picture we’d shot earlier in the day….. oops.
Images from the iD shoot in Mexico, including the cover shot that never made the cover…… Unfortunately for us, at the last minute Terry Richardson handed in some pictures of Kate Moss he’d shot, one of them being a cover try too. Kate nabbed the cover last minute and our cover of Carolyn in the shell hat ended up on the 1st page inside.
I was also on Carolyn’s first shoot for Victoria’s Secret and we were out on an island in the Caribean when Russell James the photographer with his assistant decided to fake a shark attack on his assistant in the water with fake blood and food colouring. They caused pandemonium and whilst everyone was panicking, screaming and going crazy, they were secretly filming the whole thing with everyone’s reactions………. A funny crazy day, and in true Carolyn style she enjoyed every moment of the fun.
Carolyn continues to appear in magazine editorials and campaigns and has been the signature face of Estee Lauder cosmetics and fragrances for 14 years now. On 30th April, 2008, she was named the world’s eighth highest-paid model by Forbes, having made a reported $4.5 million that year in May 2009 she featured in Forbes world’s highest-paid models, making an estimated $3 million for that year.
Carolyn, now 41 years of age and still looking amazing, has a 15 year old daughter called Dylan Blue and practices Transcedental Meditation everyday with her current boyfriend.
More pics from Carolyn’s glorious career below for you to enjoy
And what better way to join in that with one of my early advertising campaigns that I worked on with legendary photographer Corinne Day.
Back in the 90’s British model Tania Court was causing a bit of a stir. Corinne loved her and she was the star of many of John Galliano’s early shows in London. I’ve talked about Tania before, and about how lovely she was. A quiet girl from South London who was found working in a bakery.
Tania went on to walk many catwalk shows and also became the face for Blumarine and Dior, being shot by Tim Walker.
Well this particular campaign was for the store Joseph, and we went to the Columbia hotel in Lancaster Gate to shoot these pictures. Corinne loved the decor, a kind of late 70’s throwback. We did quite a few shoots in this hotel. I’ll see if I can dig up some more pics taken in here and post them in the future.
And so these pictures were born. It was very hard to find these shots especially with the Joseph logo on ( which I didn’t find any of)
The original video received its billionth view on Youtube on 15 September 2015, becoming only the ninth video on YouTube to receive over 1 billion views.
This video version of the song has been made by Nerd Fest UK where, he’s taken 66 scenes of old time musicals from the likes of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Jimmy Cagney, Debbie Reynolds, Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, Rita Hayworth, Frank Sinatra to name a few.
Here’s another one I found, made by “What’s The Mash Up” with a lot more contemporary films than the previous one ( 100 to be exact) .
Which is your favourite?
