MOODIE’S STREET HAIR ELITE – ITS LATINO SPECTACULAR
The Hispanics love Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Merengue and Flamenco, but what they also love, is a great hair do!
I found these amazing people in New York, Mexico and London, all of Spanish descent with great hair styles. So they’re giving you the Mexican forward wave, the Mexican mohawk with a mini tail, then there’s the Argentinian under cut with hi-top and finally the lady with Puerto Rican slick ponytail.
I’d like to thanks all the above people for letting me take pictures of their haircuts
See ya soon for more Moodie’s Street Hair Elite

T’HAIR STORY !
Today sees the start of a new section on the blog called “T’hair Story”. ( a little play on words there….. ‘Their Hair” ….. just trying to have a bit of fun, ya know ! )
So, I’m taking various icons, male, female or a whole band and putting together collages of all their best and worst hairstyles over their career.
The idea behind “T’hair Story” came from the posts I do called “My Story So Far ( and my haircuts)”.
For the very first post, I’ve chosen one of the queens and chameleons of British music, award winning vocalist Annie Lennox OBE. Originally the lead singer of The Tourists, then the Grammy, Ivor Novello, MTV and Brit Award winning Eurythmics, and now solo artist! She loved to dress up in her videos and also sported her now famous, short, androgynous haircut in various colours or lengths.
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1954, Annie won a place at the Royal Academy Of Music in London in the early 70’s, studying the flute and classical music, eventually becoming a flautist in the band Dragon’s Playground, In 1977 she formed The Tourists with Dave Stewart, before eventually forming The Eurythmics together in 1980. She is the most awarded female artist at the BRIT Awards with “8” BRITS in total, as well as winning an Oscar in 2004 for Best Original Song, plus she’s had 10 Grammy nominations ( 4 of which she won). Her combined record sales as a solo artist and with the Eurythmics total over 80 million.
These days as well as a musician Annie Lennox is also a political and social activist, notable for raising money and awareness for HIV charities in Africa.
I hope you enjoy looking at the images we’ve collected showing off Annie’s various guises over the years, as much as we’ve enjoyed finding them all.
This made me laugh!! Thought I’d share it with you!!
IT’S SALAD MADNESS!

MY STORY SO FAR ( AND THE HAIRCUTS)- ITS JANUARY 1989.
What can i say, it’s 1989, Bandanas and Bobs were the order of the month, but not just any old Bob. This is the CURLY Bob!!
At this stage I want to introduce to you all, 2 of my longest serving, dear friends who I met not long after I moved to London, Earl and Shari who are also both hairdressers. We all decided to go on holiday to a little unknown island in the Canary islands called La Gomera.
La Gomera was without an airport at the time and to get there you had to fly to Tenerife and then take a boat.
This was my first holiday abroad, although I had been to France on a ferry a couple of times, but it was about to become my first time ever on an aeroplane!!
I was nervous, excited and apprehensive about the flight, but most importantly we all needed to look good for this holiday and having spent most of the previous year socialising with Earl and Shari in the evenings, we suddenly realised one night that we all had the same hair styles. I guess that’s what you call influencing each other!!
Shari named us “The 3 Bobs; Dolly, Molly and Trolly” which stuck for years.
La Gomera was a lot of fun, on the fashion front too. When we weren’t all sporting our curly Bobs we had our bandana’s on in a slightly pirate/ rock band/ gypsy fashion, but teamed with Reebok Hi-Tops and fluoro’ t-shirts and shorts ( well we had just stepped into the acid house era) . If it wasn’t that then I was sporting an all in one jersey bathing suit (OUCH!!) from Emporio Armani who had just opened their first store in London. It was the place to shop!!! Shari would often tie her bandana into more of a headband with cut off denim shorts and an 80’s designer top with a thick belt to finish off the look.
So on that note I leave you with what’s probably my biggest fashion faux pas as far as clothes were concerned, and probably three of the best curly bobs on London’s hairdressing scene at the time!!
Buenos Dias !!

THINGS WE LIKE – SCHWARZKOPF OSIS PRODUCTS.
I’m always trying out new products for my kit, these three above from the Schwarzkopf Osis range are my newest additions!
All three are for creating a matte, rough texture.
Starting with ‘Dust It’ on the far left, I used this on a shoot the other day when a model’s hair was losing it’s volume a little at the roots due to being outside all day in the heat and humidity. I sprinkled it, in rough sections, mainly at the roots but up the hair shaft a little too, rubbed it in gently and the volume was held for longer as the dust seems to absorb moisture before the hair does. A bit like when women used to use talcum powder, but this has a much better hold! , I also discovered it works well if someone’s roots are ever so slightly oily too.
‘Mess Up’ (in the middle) has become a favourite of mine. I started using it when I was searching for a matte finish product to use in men’s hair, as I often find men’s products can be a little oily. This definitely did the job for men, but I also started using it in women’s too. It’s great in a bob for example, think Blondie, Debbie Harry in the Heart of Glass video, a bob that you want to keep a nice messed up texture in (as it says on the tin!).
‘Rough Rubber’ (on the right) has a really strong hold and still keeps it’s matte finish. The great thing about this one I found is when I used it on a short women’s haircut on a shoot the other day, is it held the shape I put it in really well, almost like a gel would, but completely dry looking, but when I wanted to change the shape throughout the day I could, without having to wet down first or add more product.
Lovely stuff, I highly recommend these little gems!!
