WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG POST: MENS HAIR DONT’S
When I was a young kid my father would take me to Cuffleys the barbers to get a haircut. Whilst sat patiently waiting my turn, I would watch, fascinated by the haircuts being created around me. It wasn’t all short back and sides in there, especially with it being the 70’s
Ever since then I became obsessed with mens haircuts and styles, wondering why certain men would choose the hairstyle they had- I suppose at the time, the style I found the most intriguing was the comb over- for those unfamiliar with this, it was a hairstyle designed to cover mens bald patches- however it was and still is, one of the most badly designed haircuts ever. Mainly due to the fact that instead of disguising baldness, it exaggerates it !!
…the worst examples of a comb over (that we could find!)
And so this brings me onto my new blog post- MENS HAIR DON’Ts. My fascination with mens bad haircuts continues, and recently I’ve noticed how much bad hair on men has risen dramatically.
I’ve decided to expose you to these bad haircuts in the hope that they will not only stop, but also bring some sheer entertainment to you all.
I’m beginning this new post with The New Limahl, or The “Everything But The Kitchen Sink” as i’ve renamed it. EBTKS for short.
Anyone not familiar with Limahl, well, he was an 80’s pop star, his real name being Christopher Hamill, whose stage name was Limahl ( this being an anagram of his surname ). He was the lead singer of a band called Kajagoogoo ( another bad choice of name). Some of you may have seen him more recently on the TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here” He once again bleached the top of his hair for the show, which I can only assume was in the hope of being remembered.
Anyway, I’ve noticed this bad haircut/style has been revived as of late, especially in the UK suburbs, except it has gone from bad to worse.
Its now a hi-lighted feathered mullet, straightened with ceramic irons, with a spiky crown, longer flatter sides almost Paul Weller mod-esque, with a flat spiky fringe. There’s way too much going on boys with this style. It needs to stop immediately.
Just pick one haircut boys and stick with it please- sometimes you just shouldn’t have it all…………..
